Account Suspensions
David McNicol - 2009-12-15 10:14 - NeSCForge I have suspended user accounts that look like they might be used for spamming. However, some real accounts may have been suspended as well. If you have any problems logging in, please email nescforge-support@nesc.ac.uk with your username and I will look into it.
Mail delivery problems
David McNicol - 2009-09-07 10:06 - NeSCForge We have seen some mail delivery problems that were caused by a full filesystem on the NeSCForge server. The problem that caused the file system to fill up has been resolved and the filesystem itself has been cleared up. The mail server is now starting to send out emails that were held up in its queue and external mail servers should attempt redelivery of any mail destined for NeSCForge over the next few hours and days.
Power cut on Thursday 15th January
David McNicol - 2009-01-16 10:32 - NeSCForge We had a power cut in our building yesterday afternoon that affected all services, including NeSCForge. Because the power cut also affected our air conditioning, we decided to leave the servers off overnight in case they powered back up while there was no cooling in the server room.
Bug submission error
David McNicol - 2008-08-26 15:57 - NeSCForge Some users are reporting that they are getting an error when they try to submit a bug to the tracker in their projects. I suspect that the submission script is having trouble with apostrophe characters.
Changes to CVS
David McNicol - 2008-06-05 12:35 - NeSCForge When I fixed the CVS web interface, I unwittingly created a way for people to see into private CVS repositories. I have updated the group management scripts so that apache no longer has permission to see CVS repositories that do not have anonyous access.

If you are interested in continuing to use NeSCForge, please complete the short survey at the following URL:
DESHL 4.3 released
Malcolm Illingworth - 2008-05-06 11:20 - DEISA JRA7 DESHL v4.3 has now been released and made available for download. Please see the DESHL v4.3 release notes for a detailed list of fixed bugs and implemented feature requests since the DESHL v4.2 release.
Mailing list passwords
David McNicol - 2008-05-04 11:28 - NeSCForge As a side effect of importing all of the mailing lists, the list management software has created new passwords for users and administrators. I have run some scripts to send out the list passwords to the list administrators, and I have also rerun the monthly reminder script so that you all have copies of your individual list passwords.
New support forum
David McNicol - 2008-05-03 19:13 - NeSCForge I have created a new support forum for users to report problems and ask questions about NeSCForge. It is linked from the front page of NeSCForge. Posts are automatically forwarded to our support email address, which should hopefully improve our response time.
Deleting spam from tracker
David McNicol - 2008-05-03 18:27 - NeSCForge For some time, the tracker modules have been vulnerable to spamming. Although tracker items can be marked as deleted, they could still be found and displayed through a simple search. I have written some SQL code that removes deleted tracker items completely from the database. I have set it up to run nightly so, if you get any spam in your tracker, just mark them as deleted and they will be removed.
